Annie Lichter was born in Hunan China and was adopted by her mother Sally in 2003. She grew up alongside her sister Katie in a suburb just north of Chicago. Lichter first got her hands on clay at the age of 8 and immediately fell in love with the medium. She has a primary focus on ceramics; however, she also has plentiful experience in sculpture. Her work centers around a wide array of topics, as she believes it is important to broaden your ideas as you grow. Some of the themes covered throughout her work include: self discovery, processing and accepting your emotions, mental health, and how our actions affect the ecosystems around us. Lichter has developed a deep understanding and appreciation for both experimentation and open mindedness as she navigates her career; however; she also acknowledges the importance of maintaining a steadfast commitment to her authentic self.
