Abstract Sculptures

This abstract sculpture series draws inspiration from significant events in my life. I use a variety of materials, colors, hidden symbols, shapes, and lines to create unique pieces that reflect these experiences. Each piece represents not just the memory of an event, but the emotional weight it carried—grief, joy, uncertainty, or transformation. The intertwining forms symbolize how these moments are embedded within me, shaping who I am today. Viewers are invited to engage closely with the work, where hidden symbols act as personal relics and offer layered interpretations. The series reflects an understanding that personal history is rarely linear, but rather a tangled narrative of interconnected threads.

"Mother"

Plaster, Brown Paper, Spray Paint

2023

36 in x 36 in

An exploration of identity and self discovery. Inspired by my family and my story. At the age of 41 my mom decided to adopt my sister from China. Not long after she got home, she immediately knew she wanted my sister to have a little sister, 2 years later she adopted me! Adoption can often be accompanied with negative connotations, but it doesn’t always have to be that way! Part of being adopted is always asking yourself “What if” or “why” questions, but as I have gotten older I have come to terms with that fact that those questions may never get answered, and that’s okay. There’s no other family I’d rather call mine, and I’m so very lucky and thankful to have the life and the opportunities that I have.
